We are happy to announce that our works will be shown in Eugene, Oregon, a memorable place where Momoko had spent 4 years as an UO student from 1991-1994.
Also, we are very excited we can physically participate in the opening reception held on Saturday 8/6 after a long COVID pandemic.
Please join the event if you are close by to meet us along with our works.
See you soon Eugene!
White Lotus notes:
"Otani Pottery Studio was founded in 2008 by husband and wife Tetsuya and Momoko Otani. It is located in Shigaraki, one of the six historic pottery sites in Japan, and provides a joint space for them to create their individual collections. Tetsuya’s wheel-thrown porcelain wares showcase gracefulness while also possessing the qualities of handmade objects, achieved through smooth surfaces, soft edges and the use of a warm white glaze. Momoko has had a lifelong connection with ceramics as she hails from a family of potters. Her works are inspired by time spent in her kitchen and utilize iron-rich local clay treated with slip and distinct applications like hand painting and sgraffitto. Their earthy elegance elevates every occasion to a feast for all senses.
The Otanis have shown their pottery throughout Japan and internationally, including in Shanghai, Beijing, Taiwan, New York, Seattle, Portland and Australia. We look forward to sharing their exquisite creations with you."
